In response to London’s murder rate overtaking New York City’s, the mayor of the British capital has implemented “knife control” among other new policies.
Sadiq Khan, the city’s first Muslim mayor, has deployed an additional 300 London police officers to high-crime neighborhoods with the authority to stop and search anyone suspected of carrying a knife.
Also, home deliveries of knives and acid, another common weapon, have been banned.
“No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law,” Khan wrote on Twitter.
