USDA approves genetically modified edible cottonseeds

The USDA just gave the green light to commercialize a genetically modified version the cotton plant, whose seeds can be eaten, according to Bloomberg. Researchers at Texas A&M University had been working on it for 23 years. The seeds still need approval from the FDA before they hit the market, but the researchers are confident that that’s going to happen very soon. And then, it’s game on baby.
