For many years in this country, we have been told that Conservative did not equal Christian. In fact the Father of the Modern Conservative movement, Barry Goldwater was very plain on this subject. He did not want Conservative politics mingled or tied to in any way the Church.
But, this is exactly what happened in the Eighties and Nineties with the Moral Majority. And for many, especially in the South, the Conservative Republican was a Christian. But, we see the very clear signs that this is far from true.
