Retired NYPD officer opens up about battle with cancer after working at Ground Zero


“I didn’t think about dust or smoke, I just wanted to rescue people.”

Retired NYPD police officer Thomas Wilson reflects on his health in the past 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Wilson was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer linked to his time spent during the search and rescue efforts at Ground Zero.
