An endangered sea turtle named Boeier was rescued and returned to the Gulf of Mexico after making a 5,000-mile journey to the Netherlands.
The Kemp’s ridley sea turtle — an endangered sea turtle species native to the gulf and North American Atlantic seaboard — was found tangled in a net of a fishing boat off the coast of the Netherlands in 2023 and was taken to a zoo and nursed to health. She was taken back to the U.S. where staff at Houston Zoo deemed her ready to go home. https://trib.al/iBPZwY4
