President Trump attended a bill signing to award the 1980 U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team with Congressional Gold Medals in recognition of the team’s 1980 Olympic victory over the Soviet Union.
During the ceremony in the Oval Office, the “Miracle on Ice” team presented Trump with a replica cowboy hat. According to the National Museum of American history, the white cowboy hats were worn as a part of the athletes’ opening ceremony uniforms at the games in Lake Placid, New York.
