Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer told The New York Times he regrets berating reporters over the size of the crowds on inauguration day.
“Of course I do, absolutely,” said Spicer, who only spent six months in his role.
He made the comments following his appearance on the Emmys on Sunday night where he poked fun at himself over his January proclamation Trump’s inauguration audience was the largest “to ever witness an inauguration – period – both in person and around the globe” following reports Barack Obama’s inauguration drew bigger crowds.
Spicer rolled out his podium Sunday on the Emmys stage during a skit with late night TV show host Stephen Colbert.
“This is the largest audience to witness the Emmys, period – both in person and around the world,” he said to a shocked crowd.
Spicer often sparred with reporters during his tenure, and resigned after a disagreement
