White House senior adviser Jared Kushner told congressional interns that Donald Trump’s campaign team was too disorganized to collude with Russia, Foreign Policy reported Monday.
The president’s son-in-law made the remarks Monday during a private talk at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C., a source told FP.
“They thought we colluded, but we couldn’t even collude with our local offices,” Kushner reportedly told the group.
Kushner was recently under fire for a meeting he attended during the election with a Kremlin-linked lawyer who said she had damaging information about then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. He was quizzed last week by congressional investigators about the meeting and other Russian contacts.
Afterwards, he said publicly, “I did not collude with Russia, nor do I know of anyone else in the campaign who did so.”
Kushner also told the interns that he didn’t know where the investigation headed by special counsel Robert Mueller
