North Korea has reported another round of blood letting. This time is of importance because it was party insiders. Kim Jong-un’s wrath has now moved past his party and military and onto his personal cabinet.
South Korea’s Unification Ministry spokesman Jeong Joon-hee confirmed the execution of the education official, Kim Yong Jin. Kim Yong Jin was executed by firing squad for allegedly falling asleep or dozing off during a meeting.
Kim Yong Chol, the influential head of North Korea’s United Front Department which handles inter-Korean relations was punished for having an “overbearing demeanor” and sentenced to a month of re-education.
Re-education camps being a fancy name for prison camps where prisoners at best face hard labor and at worst are outright beaten and tortured until they are deemed fit to be released or they simply die from the punishment. Usually the latter.
