Dan Cathy is famous for his fast-food chicken empire — but a multi-million investment in a studio near Atlanta has made the site a go-to partner for Walt Disney’s Marvel Studios.

On the fictional map of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Asgard and Westview are separated by chasms of space and time. In reality, they rise up periodically on a 730-acre sprawl 25 miles south of Atlanta, at the end of a lonely stretch of rural Georgian highway, nestled between a Baptist church and a strawberry farm.

It’s where Captain America and Iron Man fought Thor’s evil brother in Avengers: End Game. Wanda Maximoff was there putting the fictional New Jersey town of Westview under her retro sitcom spell in WandaVision. The most recent Marvel series, Loki, was filmed there. Kanye West was there, too, seen presiding over Sunday services in a flowing white robe in September 2020.

Behind it all: Chick-fil-A CEO and controversial fast-food billionaire Dan Cathy, who has spent millions transforming the farmland into the biggest movie studio in North America outside of Burbank.
