Schools have also stopped grouping kids in classes based on ability.
“This is so misguided,” says Fordham Institute president Michael Petrilli,
He points out “there’s some kids who don’t know their letters and other kids are already reading Harry Potter.”

Activists also claim gifted tests exclude poor kids. But studies show that testing actually helps more poor and minority students get into gifted programs.
