Michelle Obama was invited to give the commencement address at the City College of New York graduation. In front of the 3,000 graduates and their families she made the statement, “It’s the story of that I witness every single day, when I wake up in the house that was built by slaves.” This was the first attack by the Democratic Party playing the race card as they have done in many elections in the past.
I’m disappointed, but not totally surprised, that the first lady of the land didn’t finish her statement. I believe she should have added: “That only in a place like America could a black man succeed to the highest office in the land and live in a house built by former slaves.” She had a magnificent opportunity to acknowledge the progress made by both blacks and whites since that White House was built, but she failed.
