An untenured prof of Liberal Studies, Rectenwald used the account to slam identity politics, trigger warnings, safe spaces and other hallmarks of the new campus left. He tweeted: “The scariest thing about Halloween today is .?.?. the liberal totalitarian costume surveillance.” NYU insists the ouster had “absolute zero to do with his Twitter account or his opinions on issues of the day.” The school could prove that by hiring a replacement who’s every bit as critical of the madness sweeping modern academia.
New York University professor Michael Rectenwald feared the “PC Gestapo would ruin” him if it found out he was behind the Deplorable NYU Prof account on Twitter, and it seems he was right.
