The FBI’s 2025 crime statistics are in, and violent crime fell at a historic rate. Murder dropped 18.1%, robbery fell 18.5%, and America’s murder rate reached a level tied with 1955 and 1956. What does that mean for the decades-old claim that more civilian gun ownership automatically means more crime? We dig into the FBI’s actual numbers.
The FBI says these national estimates are based on submissions from more than 17,000 agencies covering 96.2% of the U.S. population. TheGunMag and CCRKBA explicitly argue that the results undermine the simplistic “more guns = more crime” narrative.
