The First Circuit Court of Appeals has issued a major decision upholding Massachusetts’ so-called “assault weapon” ban—and the timing couldn’t be more significant. Even though the U.S. Supreme Court has already agreed to hear landmark AR-15 cases that could reshape Second Amendment law nationwide, the First Circuit doubled down on its previous reasoning and refused to change course.
