BOS Member Misrepresents Town Council, Falsely Says They’re Not Willing to Sell Property

Warren County, Virginia, Board of Supervisors Chair Cheryl Cullers falsely stated that the town council is “not willing and never going to be willing” to sell a property, parts of which are owned by the town of Front Royal and the county. However, footage from a town and county liaison committee meeting reveals that when it was brought up that the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation showed interest in purchasing the property, the leader of the town council, Mayor Cockrell, expressed that the town is still interested in marketing that property but would hear the proposal from the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation. Concern about the issue has been raised because the sale of the property could have prevented, or at least lessened, a massive property tax increase in the area which took place on April 22.
