Wrangler DNA, EV Soul: Is the 2026 Jeep Recon the Future of American Adventure? | Cars & Bikes

Heritage engineering meets high-performance electrification in the 2026 Jeep Recon. This “Trail Rated” all-electric SUV features a dual-motor setup delivering a staggering 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, capable of a 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.6 seconds. It’s engineered to capture the “EV Soul” without sacrificing the mechanical thrll of the classic Wrangler, offering an immersive open-air experience through innovative tool-less removable doors, a Sky Slider roof, and removable rear-quarter glass.

The interior architecture emphasizes “authenticity and function,” housing a large 14.5-inch touchscreen and a cabin composed of 100% recycled materials for the headliners and carpets. In an era of increasing automotive choice, the 2026 Recon demonstrates that silent, zero-emission mobility can still provide the robust, body-on-frame performance required to conquer the world’s most demanding trails. With a starting price at $65,000, is the 2026 Jeep Recon the Future of American Adventure?

When Jeep introduced the Recon, its newest and possibly most innovative off-roader ever, the brand took the opportunity to really frame the Jeep lifestyle. The reveal took place in a studio in Glendale, California where Recon models with illuminated iconic seven-slot grilles, square backs and beefy tires were set amid ponds, dunes and hills, striking poses to show off its capability.

But long before the reveal just ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Jeep took a long look at what the Recon should be able to do for its owners. Yes, it needed to deliver the mastery of Jeep Wrangler, but it also needed to do more. It needed to bring Jeep into the modern era of off-roading, of software-defined capability and conveniences, of battery-powered speed and strength, of premium details that pamper passengers. It needed to do it all, and then some.

The result is a Jeep designed to go everywhere, do it all and at 650 hp, generate more power than almost any Jeep ever built.
