Edan Alexander reunites with family after being freed from Hamas captivity


The Israel Defense Forces and Israeli Prime Minister’s Office released footage of Edan Alexander reuniting with his mother and other relatives at Reim Military Base in Israel after being released from Hamas custody on Monday.

Alexander, who was held hostage for 584 days, is believed to have been the last living American held hostage by Hamas.

Alexander, a New Jersey native, moved to Israel at the age of 18. He was serving in the IDF when he was captured from a military outpost close to the Gaza frontier during Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. The now 21-year-old was 19 when he was abducted.
