Cowboys’ Elliott ‘Disappointed’ by NFL’s Suspension Ruling

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott on Saturday said he was “surprised and disappointed” with the NFL’s decision to suspend him for the first six games of the regular season.

Elliott was accused of domestic violence in July 2016 by his former girlfriend Tiffany Thompson, and the NFL conducted a year-long investigation into the claims. On Friday, the league informed the Cowboys and Elliott of its decision citing a violation of the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.

The release noted that league advisers “were of the view that there is substantial and persuasive evidence supporting a finding that [Elliott] engaged in physical violence … on multiple occasions.”

Elliott, who was suspended without pay, said he plans to “continue to work very hard, on and off the field, to mature and earn the great opportunity that I have been given.”
