Dr Dao has retained a lawyer and is suing United Airlines for their treatment of him on a recent flight. I have seen a lot of comments that the airlines was well within their rights to bump him from the flight. That is a misconception I would like to clear up right now. Before the plane loads it’s passengers, they do have a right to bump you even though it’s their own fault for overbooking the flight. However, once a passenger loads and takes their seat, they no longer have that right and dragging him off the plane was clearly illegal.
