The Chronicle of Higher Education just reported that the University of Akron is phasing out 80 of its degree programs, while at the same time, opening new facilities for Esports – as in, video games. They’re getting rid of 10 PHD programs, 33 master’s programs, 20 becholr’s programs, and 17 associate degree programs. They will no longer be offering those 80 programs of actual learning, which they say will free up about $6 million to put into other initiatives. The Resident discusses.
