Crime is down nationally but NYC felony assaults are still on pace to finish 33% above 2019 levels and major crimes overall are running 13% higher than pre-COVID. Meanwhile NYC honors less than 4% of ICE detainers while holding 7,000+ illegal immigrants in custody with active requests including 148 homicides and 717 assaults. Mamdani’s solution: abolish ICE.
