Sea grass in the Balearic Islands, Spain – 100,000 years old

Seagrass found off the Balearic Islands in Spain is thought to be the world’s oldest organism, dating back around 100,000 years.

The ancient underwater meadows stretch up to nearly 10 miles wide.

 The seagrass species is an actual plant with flowers and fruits.
In a bid to protect the fields covering the ocean floor, the government has pushed for the patches…
