#ReleaseTheMemo – has been trending on social media for some time now. The memo, a 4-page document that Republicans have read, but Democrats want hidden, will presumably prove that the Obama administration conducted unlawful surveillance on the Trump campaign and transition. SURPRISE! SUPRISE!
Of course, as Americans, we all know that one of the gravest and most damaging abuses of state power is to misuse surveillance authorities for political purposes. When the FBI and Department of Justice abuse their power to allegedly spy on their political opponents, that is a serious crime that is of the same level as Nixon’s Watergate.
