America First Policies, a political action group that backs President Donald Trump, has produced a digital advertisement calling on the public to “Turn off the NFL,” in an attempt to support the president’s attack on the sports league, BuzzFeed News reported on Sunday.
“Turn off the NFL,” reads a digital ad produced by the nonprofit America First Policies. The ad shows a photo with Trump, hand over his heart, and a #TakeAStandNotAKnee hashtag. The ad appeared in the wake of Trump’s call to fire professional football players who have protested police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.
A draft version of the ad states, “Rather than watch the NFL disrespect our country… turn on something that honors the great men and women who make sacrifices to protect our freedom and what our Great American Flag stands for. Thank you to our great Veterans!”
