Alejandro Villanueva won over the hearts and minds of a huge section of America on Sunday when he took the field alone to stand for the flag he loves.
He proved he was an Ranger before a Steeler. He did three tours of duty in Afghanistan and was not going to bend his knee to anyone.
Not even his coach.
Coach Mike Tomlin was obviously upset about Villanueva’s actions.
At a post-game press conference, Tomlin expressed disappointment in Villanueva.
“I was looking for 100% participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team,” Tomlin said. “Many of them were not going to accept the words of the President, so we decided to not take the field.”
He is asked the question about the fact that his entire team stayed in the locker room at the 2:11 mark.
