MSNBC in July topped all cable news outlets in weekday prime time among viewers ages 25-54, finishing ahead of Fox News and CNN, TVNewser reported Tuesday.
The network has been on a tear lately, and last week ranked as the most watched cable network during primetime hours from Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21, for the first time in the network’s 21-year history.
MSNBC stole the top spot from Fox News and CNN for the second month this year, with host Rachel Maddow playing a large part in the network’s success. “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which airs from 9 to 10 p.m., was the No. 1 cable news program for the month of July across all categories.
“Morning Joe,” featuring Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, led CNN among viewers ages 25-54, along with, “The 11th Hour with Brian Williams,” “Hardball” with Chris Matthews” and “All In” with Chris Hayes.
