It’s not about ‘Stormy,’ says organizer of Trump-evangelical summit

Tony Perkins

WASHINGTON – NPR got its story wrong in reporting evangelical leaders are calling for a June summit meeting with President Trump about concerns over the Stormy Daniels allegations, says Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, who describes himself as “one of the key organizers.”

Perkins characterized the report as “fake news.”

Instead, Perkins said there is an effort to organize an event similar to the one held in New York in 2016 at which about 1,000 evangelical leaders gathered to share ideas. This time, he said the focus would be about “Congress’ poor performance on promises made” since the last election.

An NPR story published this morning says evangelical leaders are organizing a meeting with the President because they’re “concerned” about his past and its effect on the midterm election. This is not true. How do I know? I’m one of the key organizers.
