ISLAMIC radicals are to be treated as mentally ill in a new program aimed at preventing terror attacks like the one which claimed 15 lives in Barcelona just days ago.
The proposal was made by French interior minister Gérard Collomb who confirmed Emmanuel Macron’s Government would enlist mental health experts to help in its battle against Islamic State (ISIS).
His announcement came just hours before today’s attacks in Marseilles which saw a 45-year-old woman killed after a white van crashed into two bus shelters in different parts of the southern French city.
Initial suspicions the horror was a terror attack have now been superseded by claims the attacker was mentally ill.
The French Government and health experts say the mentally ill are more prone to Islamic extremism and display behaviors which make them easier to spot and deal with.
