No doubt you have heard about the San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit for the national anthem.
It has caused quite a stir as would be expected. The national anthem is a patriotic moment of respect that has been a tradition at sporting contests for generations. It is a beloved moment enjoyed by most American’s.
That feeling isn’t shared by at least one NFL Quarterback. Colin Kaepernick has no love for the flag.
Kaepernick says,
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
The irony of his disrespect is lost…
