Denzel Washington Sparks Controversy With Prison Remark

Those are the words uttered by Academy Award Winner Denzel Washington in his new movie due out November 3rd, “Roman J. Israel, Esq.,” plays a criminal defense lawyer who works to address social injustice.

Recently Washington sparked controversy with recent comments he made about the prison system and incarceration.

While speaking to reporters at the premiere of his newest film ‘Roman J. Israel, Esq,’ Washington talked about what he feels the problem is with the prison-industrial complex.

“It starts in the home,” the two-time Oscar-winner told The Grio. “If the father is not in the home, the boy will find a father in the streets. I saw it in my generation and every generation before me, and every one since.”
