British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday launched a stinging attack on President Donald Trump for his decision to pull out of the Paris Climate agreement, Politico reported.
“As the global system struggles to adapt, we are confronted by states deliberately flouting — for their own gain — the rules and standards that have secured our collective prosperity and security,” she said during her speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
May didn’t name the U.S. president directly, but said climate change was a crisis that required countries to “act together in our shared interest” and described the treaty as part of the rules-based system that protects shared values.
“It is the fundamental values that we share, values of fairness, justice and human rights, that have created the common cause between nations to act together in our shared interest and form the multilateral system,” she said.
