Oh for goodness sakes….First the liberals fuss over saying “Merry Christmas” and now they are up in arms about saying “God bless you” when someone sneezes.
The response came along during the sixth century, when the bubonic place was an epidemic. Since sneezing is one obvious symptom of the plague, Pope Gregory the Great would utter it to people when they did. It is simply a phrase meaning “good health to you.”
Now Daily News published a piece called, “It’s time we all stopped saying ‘God Bless You’” and it’s ridiculous.
“Bless you” is a phrase so reflexively spoken upon hearing a sneeze that many of us forgot or don’t even know where it came from.
