For all the well-deserved glory, there’s one thing the U.S. Women’s National Team has not received: pay equality. The salary cap for women’s major league soccer players is 11-times less than the pay cap for men’s major league soccer players. After their thrilling victory over Japan in the 2014 World Cup finals, it was revealed that they were awarded $2 million, a fraction of the $35 million that the men’s team from Germany received after winning the cup in 2014 and a fourth of what the U.S. men earned for reaching the World Cup Round of 16. At the 2015 Forbes Under 30 Summit, World Cup Champion Alex Morgan talked about the huge pay gap, inequality and how the Women’s Soccer Team is growing their influence.
