One of the perks of being President of the United States is being forever remembered by official portraits at the Smithsonian. Artists try to use their talent to also tell a story by their paintings about who the subjects were. But the paintings of the Obama’s are definitely confusing. This has nothing to do with the fact that I was no fan of the Obamas, and everything to do with the fact that these portraits are simply off the mark!
Now, as for Obama sitting in a field of flowers, maybe that is closer to the mark than I am giving credit. His “gentle” nature is certainly different than most presidents of the past that have more of a, umm, manly presence. As for Michelle’s portrait, well, that one has had the most reaction from the public because it simply looks nothing like her!
